Lana Šehović received her Bachelor's (2006), Master's (2010) and PhD (2014) Degree in Musicology from the Academy of Music of University of Sarajevo. Her employment began in February 2007, as a teaching assistant for the field of Musicology at the Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology and as an associate of the Institute of Musicology of Academy of Music in Sarajevo. In 2014, she was appointed editor-in-chief of Časopis za muzičku kulturu Muzika (Journal of musical culture Music), the only indexed musicological journal in BiH. Since 2017 she has been serving as Head of Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology of this institution. From 2019 she is Associate professor.

Lana Šehović presented her papers at symposia organized by Musicological Society of FBiH, IMS (International Musicological Society) and ICTM (International Council for Traditional Music), Croatian Musicological Society, Musicological Society of Serbia, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic. So far, she has published over 40 papers in musicological publications in the country and the region, while at the international level one can single out her texts on prominent participants in Bosnia and Herzegovina musical life written for Grove Music Online (Oxford University Press). She was a visiting professor at Academy of Music of University of Zagreb and Conservatorio Superior de Musica Vigo (Spain). Some of her public lectures, based on her research conducted in the archives in Hungary, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina resulted in sheet music editions such as Antologija klavirske muzike (Anthology of Piano Music), or compact discs Kratka muzička biografija Bosne i Hercegovine (1878-1918) (Short Musical Biography of Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Prvih stotinu godina bosanskohercegovačke solo-pjesme (The first hundred years of Bosnian and Herzegovinian Solo Song). In 2019, Lana Šehović was part of an expert team for the inscription of sevdalinka in the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In 2019, she published a book entitled Ženski identiteti u muzičkom životu austrougarskog Sarajeva (Female Identities in the Musical Life of Sarajevo during the Austro-Hungarian rule), which is the first monograph in Bosanian and Herzegovinian musicology dealing with the position and significance of women in music and musical life. In 2020, Lana Šehović, with her colleagues from department of Musicology and Etnomusicology, published the book Stories about Music in Bosnia and Herzegovina: dedicated to Folke Rabe which was result of the project 85th birth anniversary of Folke Rabe and the 55th anniversary of his research in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project was realized with coperation beetween University of Sarajevo, Academy of Music and Caprice Records, Musik Verket, Sweden. During 2021 she was elected for National Coordinator of DARIAH-EU (The Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities) network for Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2024, with Fatima Hadžić, she wrote book František Matejovsky: Češki muzičar u Bosni i Hercegovini (František Matejovsky: Czech Musician in Bosnia and Herzegovina) published by Academy of Music University of Sarajevo.
