Ensemble Etnoakademik

The Etnoakademik Ensemble was founded at Academy of Music of University of Sarajevo at the end of the eighties of the last century. At first, it operated under the name YUetno, and the initiative for its activities was initiated by then assistant Mirjana Laušević and professor Ankica Petrović. In 1991, the ensemble was renamed Etnoakademik, and with the interruption of work during the war years, it operates under that name until today. The program focus of the Ethnoakademik is aimed at the preservation and interpretation of the rich musical tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The repertoire includes vocal, instrumental and vocal-instrumental musical traditions of secular and spiritual character, rural and urban practice of all the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ensemble presented its artistic activity at numerous significant events, among which the performances within the International Symposium Music in Society, through the television shows of the Federal Radio-Television, and the performances of the Etnoakademik were recorded and published on two CD editions produced by the Musicological Society of FBiH. The ensemble brings together students from various departments of the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo - from musicology and ethnomusicology to music theory, pedagogy and other artistic disciplines. Artistic and expert directors of the ensemble are prof. Dr. Tamara Karača Beljak, prof. Branka Vidović and asst. M.Sc. Damir Imamović.
