Symphony Orchestra

Symphony Orchestra of Music Academy is a permanent ensemble which gathers all students of instrumental departments, and is shaped within classes in the course Orchestra at the Department of Conducting. Symphony Orchestra performs large pieces independently or together with mixed choir.

Orchestra has performed some fundamental historical pieces such as Berlioz’s Fantastic Symphony and, together with Academy choir, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Orff’s Carmina Burana, etc. As needed and per program requirements, Symphony Orchestra is also supplemented with Academy alumni, as well as with musicians beyond Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It should be noted that students in orchestra are often joined by their teachers, which is evidence that the entire artistic life at Academy is of symbiotic character and strictly related to artistic classes and requirements of successful music making. Ognjen Bomoštar is the professor who coaches and performs all-evening programs with Symphonic Orchestra, and he is aided by teaching assistant Emir Mejremić.
